Is Evolution Incompatible with Christian Faith?
by Dave Oldridge
The real failure of creationism is a failure of faith. It sees events in
the natural world (by very definition, what God creates is
"natural")
and panics, coming to the conclusion that God just COULDN'T do
THAT! Well God could and obviously DID do something of the
kind. If you are having trouble squaring that with your exegesis,
then the place to look is the exegesis itself and the assumptions
that underpin it. Because God is Who He is, not who you want
Him to be. And He cannot be locked in a box, in a book or in any
THING. He is that I AM which IS. The eternal begetter of all that
is.
And His sovereignty is as universal as His being. It is nowhere
absent and nowhere subject to challenge by created things or
events, for what has power to challenge or defeat the very source of
all power? Is mutation and natural selection the way biological
organisms diversify? The evidence seems to conclude that it is.
Does this mean God has no part in it? Where do you see that?
And once you get past this "Genesis is literal history" nonsense,
the book starts to reveal its real power and meaning...but I will let
you discover that for yourself if you have the will.
